Local author Cheryl White visits the Main Library on Thursday, May 8th at 6pm to discuss her book Letters of Laughter and Loss: A Maine Love Story. Copies of the book will be available for purchase at the event, courtesy of Nonesuch Books.
After her husband of forty-six years died suddenly, Cheryl White began emailing friends and family to let them know how she was doing. Over the next five years, as White navigated day-to-day details and worked through anniversaries, birthdays, holidays, and all the countless moments that define a couple’s life together, what emerged was a touching chronicle of loss, and a way to accept a future without the love of her life.
About the Author: Cheryl Stitham White was born and raised in Maine. She attended Colby College, majoring in British history, then the University of Maine in Orono, receiving a master’s degree in special education. She had a forty-seven-year career in education in southern Maine. After many years of writing grants, memos, and school newsletters, she began writing articles for the Maine Sunday Telegram’s Maine Observer section. She divides her time between South Portland and her camp in central Maine.
