Right off of Main Street in Kennebunk, you will find the Garden Street Bowl. Inside this nondescript brick building are bowling lanes, a pub and a small arcade — all thing that you might expect in a bowling alley. Surprisingly, you will also find Crotux, a very good moderately-priced restaurant, serving creative rifts on pub food.
We recently checked out their Tuesday night trivia. We had been going to Feile in Wells on Thursdays, but a schedule conflict pushed us to Tuesdays. We started our Tuesday’s at Pepper’s Landing in Ogunquit and really enjoyed it, but the paid municipal parking costs ($15 per night) began to rack up. So, off to Kennebunk with free parking. A side benefit is that the trivia at the Garden Street Bowl is not run by the same company as that at Feile and Pepper’s. So, if Thursdays open up again, we could go back to Feile and do two nights! Most companies change their questions on a weekly basis.
I love the blackened tuna sandwich and the poutine ($16 and $11, respectively). Leah enjoys the veggie burger ($15, pictured below) and the fried Brussel sprouts appetizer ($8). Get the truffle ketchup with the fries. If you are a ketchup lover, it will be life changing.
If you are wondering to yourself why is does this place sound familiar? Perhaps it is because you have visited the Kennebunk farmer’s market located in the parking lot. Or, maybe you spent Super Bowl Sunday there.
