Community Helpers are the people who live in our neighborhoods and assist us in so many ways. From firefighters who help keep us safe, to sanitation workers who drive the garbage trucks that keep our towns clean, to the workers who construct the buildings in our cities — helpers are all around us!
This spring, we’ll meet a variety of community helpers — and we may even get to see some work vehicles up close!
This week, we’ll meet garbage truck drivers and see a garbage truck up close! The Department of Public Works helps keep the city of Portland clean by collecting your garbage and recycling, clearing streets of ice and snow in the winter, maintaining the city’s sewer system, building sidewalks, managing traffic lights and street signage, and so much more!
Included with Admission.
