Film Matinee: Twelfth Night! A Special Screening with Seacoast Village Project

POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

Join us for a screening of Trevor Nunn’s 1996 production of William Shakespeare’s Twelfth Night! This program is brought to you through a partnership between the Portsmouth Public Library and the Seacoast Village Project. We will watch the film together, and attendees are welcome to stay for a light discussion after.

Registration is not required ~ Just drop in! Light refreshments are provided. Subtitles are used when possible. All are welcome

Twelfth Night
1996. PG. 134 minutes.
A shipwreck separates Viola (Imogen Stubbs) from her twin brother, Sebastian (Steven Mackintosh). Believing him to be dead, Viola disguises herself as a boy and goes to work for Duke Orsino (Toby Stephens), whom she loves. The object of the duke’s heart, Olivia (Helena Bonham Carter), does not reciprocate his feelings — however, she falls madly for Viola, whose true gender she doesn’t know. Meanwhile, Olivia’s uncle, Sir Toby (Mel Smith), manipulates all of their entangled relationships.

This event serves as a culmination of two FREE community programs centered around this play to take place in April 2025 which are open to all:
