POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

Brothels, Booze and the Badges of Portsmouth, NH (1895-1913)
with Dr. David “Lou” Ferland

Join us as Dr. David “Lou” Ferland traces the evolution of Portsmouth N.H. from 1895 until 1913. Contained are stories of sex workers, brothels, corrupt police officers, sailors, politicians and business leaders who prospered in Portsmouth. This historiography examines the myths, customs, traditions, facts and lore of Portsmouth within the contextual influence of convergent local and world events. It is told as a visual story to help understand the rich, colorful and the sometimes shameful community of Portsmouth.
