This new, monthly series aims to offer information and exploration of options and considerations around the processes of preparing to die, and dying itself. Learning about and exploring these topics as a group reminds us that we are not alone, and it gives us the opportunity to share our perspectives and ask questions together, as we plan for our inevitable exit.
Tuesday, April 15: Maine Death with Dignity
The Maine Death with Dignity Act provides a structured, legal process and standard of care by which qualified people may request and receive life-ending medication from their physician(s) under specific circumstances. This presentation will be done by the Executive Director of Maine Death with Dignity, Rev. Valerie Lovelace, MS. Rev. Valerie will cover a clear explanation of the practice in the United States, a little bit of history, clarification around terminology, qualification, and a little bit about the pharmacology.
