Join Dr. Kristine Hoyt as regales us with tales of the Penguins of the Antarctic.
Dr. Hoyt grew up in Cumberland, Maine. After graduating from Bowdoin College, she conducted cancer research at the Medical School of Bern, Switzerland. She did Masters work in clinical nutrition at University of Illinois before receiving her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Wisconsin in 1990.She initially trained to work with zoo animals at both the San Diego Zoo and Marine World, before completing an internship in small animal surgery and medicine. She has been specializing in cats since 1991.In the summer of 2010, she traveled to Botswana, where she worked in the bush, tracking leopards for the purpose of placing radio collars. She lives at Higgins Beach with her husband, daughter, three cats, and one dog who thinks she is a cat.
As this is a noon program, feel free to bring a brown bag lunch! Coffee, tea and snacks will be provided by the library.
