Please join the Town of Brunswick, Maine Fibershed, Citizens’ Climate Lobby & Education (CCL), and Curtis Memorial Library to learn what a local fibershed is and how each of us can create change by understanding the fabric that weaves our community together. The Laurie Manos of CCL will illuminate how excessive global consumption and fiber specifically plays a role in our communities and carbon footprints. Pat Harpell of the Maine Fibershed will tour our State’s local farmers, mills, dyers and makers, with samples from over 50 Maine farms, from Alpaca to Yak, all of which you can pet. Learn how to differentiate from fresh carbon and fossil carbon fibers, how a Soil-to-Soil system works, the importance of local fiber to our economy, how raw wool is being used to replenish soil, and how you can make a significant difference.
