Yellow Tulip Project: Zines for Community

POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

The Yellow Tulip Project (YTP) is a non-profit with a mission to smash the stigma surrounding mental health through dynamic nature, arts, and media based programming in partnership with youth leaders.

Are you a young person between the ages of 14-18 who loves storytelling, art making, and zines? Join YTP’s community impact project at Portland Public Library (PPL) where you’ll get to create your own zines exploring themes of hope, community, connection, and more. Over the span of 6 sessions, you’ll get to experiment with your creative style and hone your artistic voice, all while making a positive difference in your community through art.

Registration is required. Bonus: you’ll also receive a stipend!

When We’ll Meet:

  • Wednesday, March 12th, 3-5pm

  • Wednesday, March 26th, 3-5pm

  • Wednesday, April 9th, 3-5pm

  • Wednesday, April 23rd, 3-5pm

  • Wednesday, May 7th, 3-5pm

  • Wednesday, May 21st, 3-5pm

How to Register:

Registration is open until March 7th for a total of 12 participants! This project asks for a commitment to attend all 6 sessions in order to receive a stipend. If you are under the age of 18, parent/guardian permission is required to participate.

For more information and to register, please email YTP’s Director of Youth Engagement, Ysanne Bethel, at ysanne@theyellowtulipproject.org or call 207-807-3589.

You can also come by the Teen Library and a staff member can help sign you up!
