GrubHub Amazon Prime Deal

POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

After writing my article about the daylight savings time deal from GrubHub, I remembered that there was a GrubHub Amazon Prime offer that I’d still not taken advantage of. Basically: if you’re an Amazon Prime member, which I am, you could get a year of GrubHub for free.

This deal first came out in 2022 so I figured it had long expired. I was wrong and I signed up today. Here’s what you need to know about this deal.

amazon prime grubhub deal confirmation page

What is the GrubHub Amazon Prime Deal?

Amazon Prime members can enjoy a free one-year Grubhub+ membership (normally $9.99/month) with their Prime membership. It appears that I’ll also be eligible for $0 delivery fees and lower other service fees when ordering food or other things through Grubhub.

In fact, after I signed up through my Amazon Prime account, I got a confirmation page that said this:

“Enjoy a free year of unlimited $0 delivery fees from all your favorite restaurants, courtesy of Prime.”

Where can you order from?

When I clicked through and looked at my food options, mostly I saw national chains like Dunkin, Five Guys and McDonald’s. However, there are some Maine-centric places I could order through, too, for delivery. Also, pickup is an option.

These local eateries include:

  • Pilots Cove Cafe at the Sanford Airport
  • Maggie’s Place in Biddeford
  • Portland Pie Company in Biddeford

Even Dairy Queen or DQ is on the list.

In fact, by and large, many of the restaurants I could access from where I live were located in Biddeford.

How do you sign up?

You’ll find a link to sign up for this deal on your home page. Not an Amazon Prime member yet? Use my link to sign up. Then, you’ll be eligible for that free year of GrubHub and the $0 delivery fees.

Get this: if you already pay for GrubHub, you can still get the year for free when you add an Amazon Prime account. The only caveat is a student account: existing Grubhub+ Student members participating through Amazon Prime Student are not eligible.

If for some reason you decide to cancel Amazon, then you’ll be switched to a paid GrubHub account. In other words, you’ll lose that free year altogether.

What happens after the first year?

Everyone becomes a paying GrubHub customer after that first year. It’s $9.99 a month.

However, if you cancel before the year is up, you won’t be charged. Contact GrubHub customer support before the year is over to cancel and avoid the charge.
