While our dogs Sadie and Oscar don’t love July Fourth fireworks, it seems like almost every else does. If you want to head out for a show, here’s a rundown of fireworks in and around southern Maine. Our listing starts just over the boarder in Portsmouth, New Hampshire and moves north along the coast to Freeport.

Portsmouth, NH
Portsmouth is kicking off the holiday a day early. Fireworks are on Wednesday, July 3 at 9:15 p.m. at South Mill Pond across from Portsmouth City Hall. The rain date is July 5.
York
York’s annual Fourth of July fireworks will take place at Short Sands at 9:30 pm on July 4.
Ogunquit
Ogunquit’s fireworks will originate at the Main Beach, but can be seen from both the North Beach and the Footbridge beach as well. Fireworks begin at 9:15 pm. The Main Beach parking lot will be closing at 4 pm that day to allow for the safe set-up of the show. The rain date is July 5.
The Kennebunks
In Kennebunk, the fireworks will be launched from Gooch’s Beach at Narragansett Point. Viewing should be great all the way to Mother’s Beach and in Kennebunkport along the river. They take place at 9 pm on the Fourth.
Old Orchard Beach
Old Orchard Beach doesn’t limit its fireworks to just July 4. It has fireworks all summer every Thursday night. They originate from from the Old Orchard Beach Pier at 9:45 pm.
Portland
In Portland the fireworks are accompanied by the Portland Symphony and are launched at the Eastern Promenade on July 4. Rain date is July 5.
Falmouth
July 4th fireworks in Falmouth is scheduled for July 4, 2024 beginning at dusk off of Falmouth Heights Beach. The rain date is July 5.
Freeport
Freeport is hosting a free concert in LL Bean’s Discovery Park on July 4 at 7:30 followed by fireworks at 9:15.
