POSTED BY

Will you be attending a Memorial Day parade on the holiday weekend? Do you have an American flag you can wave? If not, Ace Hardware can help.

Free Flags for Memorial Day

Ace Hardware is honoring American veterans by sponsoring its annual One Million Flag Giveaway. On Saturday, May 25, 2024, you can stop into your local Ace Hardware for a free flag measuring eight inches by 12 inches.

The catch? You must be one of the first 240 customers through the door. There is a limit of one flag per customer. Most stores open at 8 a.m. so make sure to set an alarm on your phone so you don’t miss this freebie opportunity.

According to our colleagues at Living on the Cheap, as part of the annual holiday campaign, Ace Hardware is also donating flags to VFW chapters nationwide.

The popular hardware store is also hosting a Memorial Day Sale with lots of grills and other summertime necessities on sale — from May 14 to 27, 2024.

One of the neatest Memorial Day parades in Southern Maine is the one held in Kennebunkport. Oftentimes, you’ll see former President George W. Bush marching in the parade, along with everyday residents of Kennebunkport. For many years his parents, President George H.W. Bush and First Lady Barbara Bush, also attended the parade.

Ace Hardware locations in Southern Maine

There are two Ace Hardware locations where we shop regularly. One, the Ace Hardware in Kennebunk. It is one of the dog-friendly stores we frequent.

The other is Aubuchon Hardware on Route 1 in Wells. They have a store cat there so we leave the dogs in the car.

However, those are hardly the only Ace Hardware stores in York and Cumberland Counties. Here is a list of additional towns with Ace Hardware stores where you can get a free flag for Memorial Day.

  • Buxton
  • Falmouth
  • Gorham
  • Gray
  • Kittery
  • Limerick
  • Limington
  • Portland (multiple)
  • Sanford
  • Scarborough (multiple)
  • South Portland
  • Waterboro
  • Westbrook
  • York

You can use the Ace Hardware store locator to find one near you.
