How much does a stamp cost? Well, you’re going to pay more for one next year. That’s because, once again, the United States Postal Service (USPS) aka the post office is raising the price of postage.
How much are stamp prices increasing?
The price of a Forever Stamp increases on January 21, 2024. So, you’ve still got a little time. It’s going up two cents.
- Old price: 66 cents
- New price: 68 cents
The last increase was back in July 2023 — from 63 to 66 cents.
That means a book of 20 stamps will cost $13.60, up from $13.20.
In addition, the rate of a postcard stamp will also increase on the same day.
- Old price: 51 cents
- New price: 53 cents.
I like to write postcards to encourage people to vote. So, I always have a ton of postcard stamps on hand for this purpose. I’m going to need to check my stash and see if I need to stock up before the prices go up on January 21, 2024.
Forever Stamps are good for forever
In case you didn’t know, Forever Stamps are always valid for the current first-class stamp rate — regardless of any future rate increases. If you use lots of stamps in your personal and/or professional life, it’s definitely worth the investment to buy several rolls or books of stamps now at the lower rate.
Where to buy stamps
Of course, you can visit your local post office to purchase stamps. Also, you can buy stamps online from the USPS. Shipping is always free.
In addition, some supermarkets sell stamps. And so does Costco.
