When it comes time to watch the Big Game on Sunday, February 11, there are plenty of Portland sports bars and other great locations in southern Maine. We got everything from legit sports bars to great local watering holes with enough TVs to let you keep up, assuming you’re not staying home to watch the Super Bowl.
Best Places to Watch the Big Game Near Portland Maine
There are even a couple of places that are having bona fide watch parties. A couple places offer bowling or arcades, so that if things get boring and it turns into the Stupor Bowl, you’ve still got something to do.
We’ve listed a selection of our top places. These are primarily sports bars near Portland, Maine, though we do offer options west, north and south of Portland, too.

Aura Sports Grill

This local sports bar comes equipped with 12 flat screens and two large projector screens, so you should be able to get a great view from any location. The menu is mid-priced bar food.
Billy’s Chowder House

Billy’s is located near the ocean, so we were afraid that the recent rough weather would put a damper on this year’s watch party. However, we are happy to report that Billy’s is open and will be hosting its annual party for the big game.
The party at Billy’s begins at 5pm and features a free buffet dinner starting at 6pm. There is no cover charge.
There will be giveaways and a TV raffle. They haven’t announced what’s going to be on the buffet, but we’ve included their regular menu as a reference.

Commercial Street Pub

Commercial Street Pub is an informal local bar with a mid-priced bar menu. It boasts 10 TVs to be sure that you have a great view of the game.
Cowbell Maine

The link above sends you to buy tickets ($99) to Cowbell’s megaparty at its Westbrook restaurant. The game will certainly be on the TVs at their Biddeford and Scarborough locations as well, but book ahead if you want to attend the big bash in Westbrook.
This event for guests 21 and over includes food, pregame entertainment (beginning at 3 pm), prizes each quarter and, if you wish, discounted room rates at the Hampton Inn next door.
By the way, Hampton Inn hotels are part of the Hilton chain. They’ve promised to put a Peloton bike in Hilton hotel gyms by year’s end. We spied this one in the Home 2 Suites in Bangor when we stayed there last summer.
Dock Fore Tavern

Dock Fore is a cozy local sports bar with six TVs and a simple reasonably priced selection of bar food.
Dunn Bar

The traditional Irish menu at The Dunn Bar in downtown Biddeford is much more upscale than most of the places in this post. So, if you are looking for fare that goes beyond basic bar food, but retains that pub feeling, The Dunn Bar might just be the place to go watch the big game.

The Menu at the Fairgrounds Pizza & Pub runs the gamut from pizza and burgers to a 16-ounce ribeye. Still, with 11 flat screens plus a 110″ wall TV, it is a perfect place to view the game. And with such a varied menu, you can choose a modest meal, or splurge on something more extravagant.

The Foundation Brewing Company is a small brewpub with a slightly upscale, Detroit-style pizza menu. Patrons enjoy the pizza, but come for the locally brewed beer. Expect the game to be on one of several flat screen TVs.

Enjoy the game while eating mid-priced bar food or wood-fired pizza. If the game gets boring check out the “Bahhcade”, a massive bar arcade including pool, bowling, air hockey and arcade games.
Garden Street Bowl

The Garden Street Bowl features a full bar and slightly higher-end menu that can be enjoyed at a sit-down restaurant or at the bar. Eight TVs around its bar and bowling lanes. So, you can enjoy the game and bowl a few frames. There is a small arcade as well. Finally, Garden Street Bowl has trivia every Tuesday night.

Pat’s offer’s standard pizza place fare. It has a cozy separate bar area lined with flat screens if you are looking to enjoy the game in a fun, informal atmosphere.

Located near Falmouth, Maine’s two hockey arenas, Rivalries is a quintessential sports bar with a typical bar menu. With 32 TV screens, you’ll certainly be able to see the game from every angle.

That Place in Ogunquit is a more upscale modern restaurant in Ogunquit with a bar and lounge. The bar menu has mid-priced items and two big flat screen televisions to enjoy the game. It’s close to Perkins Cove and the Marginal Way.

Now, this pub’s fare is much more than $3, but still reasonably priced for a Portland location. Dewey’s has nine HD screens that are thoughtfully placed so you can catch any game from any angle, including the big one coming up.
