You probably already know that your Maine public library card can help you do more than just borrow books. You can use it to borrow from the various library of things that branches have. Your card gets you free museum passes. And now, on September 20th, your public library card gets you free admission to Maine State Parks.

Use Your Maine Library Card for Free State Park Admission
According to the Maine Department of Agriculture, Conservancy and Forestry, the Maine State Library and Maine State Parks are partnering to offer a special day of free admission to participating state parks to all public library card holders in maine.
On Saturday, September 20, simply show your Maine library card at the entrance of any participating Maine state park and enjoy a day outdoors at no cost. At other times of the year, Girl Scout Troops can get free admission to Maine state parks.
Free admission applies to day-use at Maine State Parks and Historic Sites on Saturday, September 20, from 9:00 a.m. until closing only.

Here are some of the participating public parks and historical sites within the Maine state system:
- Coastal Parks: Ferry Beach, Popham, Reid, Two Lights, Shackford Head, Cobscook Bay
- Lakeside Parks: Sebago Lake, Damariscotta Lake, Mount Blue, Aroostook
- Riverside & Waterway Parks: Androscoggin Riverlands, Allagash Wilderness Waterway
- Rolling Hills & Mountain Parks: Bradbury Mountain, Mount Blue, Camden Hills, Peaks-Kenny
- Island Parks: Warren Island, Eagle Island State Historic Site
Note: Some state and national parks do not participate in this program. They include:
- Acadia National Park
- Allagash Wilderness Waterway
- Baxter State Park
- Maine Wildlife Park
- Peacock Beach
- Scarborough Beach
- Swan Island
- Penobscot River Corridor
- Penobscot Narrows Observatory in Prospect
