Free and Cheap Coffee for National Coffee Day in Maine

POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

National Coffee Day is one of my favorite food holidays of the year. I mean, no disrespect to National Doughnut Day or National Bagel Day. However, coffee is something I drink every day. Literally. So the idea of being able to get a cup for free or cheap is always a highlight for me.

When is National Coffee Day

National Coffee Day is always September 29th. Two days later, on October 1, it’s International Coffee Day, so a worldwide food holiday. However, here in the United States, you’ll find the most deals for free and cheap coffee on or around September 29. Some coffee purveyors offer coffee deals all month long.

When National Coffee Day first started being celebrated on a large scale, it used to be that nearly everyone could find a place where you could walk in and get a free cup. Nowadays, many national chains only provide free coffee offers to people who have their app on their phone and are a member of their rewards program. Well, that’s a good enough reason for me and why I have the Dunkin’ app as well as the McDonald’s app as well as the Starbucks app on my phone. If free food is available, I want to be eligible to get it.

Where to Get Free and Cheap Coffee on National Coffee Day in Maine This Year

It’s always a challenge covering national food holidays, especially when looking for deals in Maine. Maine is one of those states that simply does not have all of the same chain restaurants and retailers as other states. Heck, there was no Costco in Maine until 2023 and it is still only a single location in Scarborough.

I’ve done my best to find National Coffee Day deals that Mainers like you and me can take advantage of on September 29th. Read on to find out where you can go in Maine to get free and cheap coffee on National Coffee Day.

Aroma Joe’s

I couldn’t find anything in Aroma Joe’s app about free coffee on September 29, 2026. In the past you had to be part of the AJ’s Rewards program to get their National Coffee Day offer, and you had to redeem it in the AJ’s Rewards app between September 29 and October 6. Nonetheless, I’ll keep looking.

Circle K Convenience Stores

If you fill up your gas tank at Irving Gas Stations, then chances are you’ve been to a Circle K convenience store. They are the ones most often associated with Irving in Maine. Here’s the Circle K offer for National Coffee Day 2026.

On Tuesday, September 29, customers can get a free medium coffee — hot or iced — at any of the 7,000 Circle K locations, redeemable through the Circle K app.

There are more than a dozen Circle K stores in Southern Maine, including in the following towns:

  • Biddeford
  • Eliot
  • Falmouth
  • Kennebunk
  • Kittery
  • Portland
  • Saco
  • Sanford
  • Scarborough
  • South Portland
  • Standish
  • York

Circle K also participates in the Too Good to Go App.

DQ

On National Coffee Day (September 29), fans can enjoy a small DQ Coffee Cooler for just $3 at participating U.S. locations. That pricing is good through November 1.

Where are the DQ locations in Southern Maine? As of this writing:

  • Biddeford
  • Kennebunk
  • Kittery
  • Old Orchard Beach
  • Saco
  • Sanford
  • South Portland
  • Wells
  • Westbrook
  • Windham

Dunkin’

On National Coffee Day, you’ll get free coffee from Dunkin’ and L.L. Bean, along with the national launch of the L.L.Bean x Dunkin’ product collab and the release of a second limited-edition coffee accessory, the L.L.Bean Coffee Tote. Earlier this month, they introduced a coffee coozie, if you will, that looked like an L.L. Bean sweater.

On Monday, September 29, members can enjoy a free medium hot or iced coffee, with purchase through the Dunkin’ app.

In addition, shop the first-ever L.L.Bean x Dunkin’ product collaboration beginning Sept. 29 at 10 a.m. ET. It celebrates two brands deeply rooted in New England culture. Featuring a cozy Birdseye Sweater and a reimagined Boat and Tote, the product collab combines L.L.Bean’s timeless icons with playful details inspired by Dunkin’ coffee culture.

Again, this offer is only available to Dunkin’ Rewards members. Dunkin’ has 164 shops in Maine, so way too many for me to list. Use this Dunkin’ locator to find one near you. And make sure you join the Rewards club and download the app on your phone so you can get this and other national food holiday offers from Dunkin’ throughout the year.
