National Frozen Yogurt Day in Maine

POSTED BY
Leah Ingram

I’ve never been a big fan of National Frozen Yogurt Day, but not for the reason you think. I love eating frozen desserts. However, I don’t love eating frozen yogurt in February–especially not in chilly Maine.

For me February is more the month for hot chocolate than frozen chocolate yogurt. Alas, I don’t make the rules.

So the reason for this article is to let you know that February 6 is always National Frozen Yogurt Day. If you’re so inclined to indulge in froyo in February, I’ve looked into Southern Maine ice cream shops and other eateries that will be participating.

Where to go for National Frozen Yogurt Day in Maine

Unlike National Bagel Day or National Pizza Day, there really aren’t as many businesses in Southern Maine celebrating this frozen dessert holiday.

Unfortunately, Maine doesn’t have a lot of the national frozen yogurt chains. So I can’t bring you any froyo deals from Menchie’s, Sweetfrog or Orange Leaf frozen yogurt.

Finally, many shops serving frozen yogurt are seasonal. So, they simply aren’t open in February.

For example, Red’s Dairy Freeze in South Portland doesn’t reopen until March. So, no good for National Frozen Yogurt Day. On the other hand, they should be all good for National Ice Cream Day on the third Sunday in July.

I wonder if the handful of gelato shops in Old Port do National Ice Cream Day, too, even though gelato isn’t exactly ice cream. Now to figure out if there is a National Gelato Day here in the United States.

Anyway, that’s all to say I’ve found just one yogurt shop that appears to be open and likely participating in this upcoming food holiday. I’ve shared the details below.

Red Mango, South Portland

Last year Red Mango inside the Maine Mall in South Portland had a $5 deal on National Froyo Day. That is, you could fill up an entire cup with their froyo and pay just $5. Unless something changes, I would imagine they’re offering this deal again this year.
